Meet Talata
Our boat is a Neel 47, hull number 9 built in 2019 by NEEL TRIMARANS in La Rochelle, France.
TALATA is our floating home on which the entire living space is on one single deck. This is a unique and remarkable feature for a boat of this size and for us, it’s one of the main reasons we chose the Neel 47.
With the living deck spread above and across all three hulls, the central hull accommodates all technical installations with most of the weight well-centered and low. The Neel 47 sailing qualities and comfort benefit from this aspect.
The weight of water and diesel tanks is also in the central hull and lowest point which provides ideal stability and better sailing performance.
- Performance-oriented cruiser as long as you keep lightweight
- The three hulls of a trimaran make for a seaworthy, stable and safe boat.
- Excellent accessibility of the main technical installation facilitates maintenance work
Entire living on one single deck
Optimal handling for a short-handed crew
Sails excellently upwind
Unsurpassed visibility at all points

What we chose …
OC Tender 300 Carbon
Our rigid tender has been getting alot of attention wherever we go. Coming in at just 38 kg, this rigid tender is considerably lighter than the standard inflatable and offers more space than a comparably sized one. You get a bit scared near rocks (ouch!) but with those wheels we can easily drag her over them.
Carbon Mast
On the Neel 47, a carbon mast provides more height with an extra 8m2 of sail area and 3 reefs for the main. In addition to the weight-saving gains of a carbon mast, the rigidity means the staysail can be removed competely.
Ultra 35 anchor
When light isn’t right. With our 35 kg anchor we’re happy to be heavy, making weight gain on our 8mm stainless chain instead. The Ultra anchor is amazingawsomefantastic and truly surpasses all the hype. We arrive, drop her, she rolls over, digs in and goes to bed. Good night.
Copper Coat
Your boat’s bottom needs an antifoul to protect algae and barnacle growth. Its mostly toxic stuff. We have coppercoat which is less harmful to the marine environment and lasts up to 10 years when applied properly.
And the living is easy
TALATA is our tiny home and is outfitted to meet our needs as a sailing couple, on a multi-year voyage and living aboard full-time.
Our Neel 47 offers us a modern, light-filled loft-design with excellent visibility both from the raised helm position outside when sailing and from the interior nav station. The saloon sliding doors open completely to provide an airy and spacious single-level deck for ease of movement within the interior and protected access to the helm.
The highlight of out three-cabin trimaran is the single level-living for our owner cabin, saloon, galley and cockpit. The slimline floats accommodate simple and comfortable cabins; one for guests on port (with head) and a cabin used for our storage on starboard, each with independant access to ensure privacy.
- Three cabins, two heads
- Custom foldable space-saving tables
- Esthec decking in and out (in post)
- Large shower
- Fully electric cooking
- sliding doors expand indoor & outdoor space
Amazing views from deck-level owner cabin
Generous cockpit with multiple lounging areas
U-Shaped galley
Easy access to all technical equipment

A source for the choices, additions and modifications
We’ve made – and are still making – modifications to our Neel 47. Some are big, some are small. All are tried, tested and proven in daily use. Would we choose to do the same again? You’ll find that out too.
